| The Nelson Bowling
club's centennial year is well under way with both greens better
than they have been for some years.
The membership improved with the
addition of 12 new members the youngest of these being 13 years old.
The club grounds have never been
better and are a credit to club members, the greenkeeper and the
gardener.
Three tournaments have been held
so far this season and good entries have been received on each
occasion.
Arrangements for the Centennial
Tournaments are well in hand with entries coming in for all days.
The Twilight Tournament is now full but other tournaments still have
room for teams. The Centennial Dinner, now to be held in St Marys
Church Hall, will provide a fitting ending to the celebrations with
the President of the NZBA, Mr Olly Duckworth in attendance.
The guest speaker will be Mr
Gregory Aim, executive director of the Hillary Commission for
Recreation and Sport.
Championship competitions are now well under way but several members
are requested to get their games played as soon as possible.
